You know football season has arrived when it’s time to meet the respective teams.

Crestview High School will host Meet the Bulldogs night on Friday, Aug. 9. Festivities start at 5:30 p.m. Following Meet the Bulldogs is Meet the Band starting at approximately 7:30 p.m.

A little more than an hour into Monday’s official practice of the fall season, the Crestview football team was reminded that it is still very much summer in North Okaloosa County, not that the Bulldog coaches and players needed it.

Baker coach Matt Brunson always seems to be a man in a hurry. And he’s never in more of hurry than at the start of the high school football season as he tries to leave no stone that could lead to success unturned.

It will be all things Baker football on Friday, Aug. 9, when the Baker varsity headlines Meet the Gators Night.

The activities begin at 5:30 p.m. and conclude around 8:30. Cost is $5 a person. Barbeque plates will be available for $5.

By the time the Crestview football team took the field shortly after 10 on Monday morning to open preseason camp, the temperature was already 89 degrees with a heat index of 100.

Kase Armstrong has grown up with a football life.

His dad, Rob Armstrong, is a longtime head coach and assistant coach who retired prior to last season. His older brother, Kurt, is a freshman offensive lineman at Mercer University in Macon, Ga.

Davidson is currently going about the business of getting ready for the 2024 season.

“We’re getting excited,” he said. “We’re finally getting in pads and doing a little hitting, and we will see what we’ve got.”

How young will the Laurel Hill volleyball team be this year?

Here’s a clue, only three are seniors; Kaelin Martin, Nevaeh Langford and Lexi Rollins – the rest are sophomores, freshmen and eighth graders.

Only time will tell how far success at the Florida State volleyball camp will take the Crestview Lady Bulldogs. There can be no denying that winning should help the confidence of the team.

Shaylee Frederick is Miss Versatility for the Crestview volleyball team.

The 5-foot-5 senior can play anywhere on the court for the Lady Bulldogs and will play a big part in the success the team hopes to enjoy this season.
