Florida Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a report of an active shooter in Holmes County Monday, April 8. The suspect was reportedly a female who had recently checked out of a local hotel and told the staff she was going on a shooting spree, directed by “God” in relation to the solar eclipse.
A Crestview man charged at Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies with a knife during a felony warrant service around midnight in Baker, resulting in an officer-involved shooting, S.O. officials said today in a news release.

On Feb. 9, an Okaloosa County Jury found Ledesma Wooden guilty of Attempted First Degree Premeditated Murder, First Degree Premeditated Murder, and Aggravated Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm. Mr. Wooden was sentenced to mandatory life in prison.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Christopher Roy Poppell, 45, of Crestview, on 30 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, one count of promotion of sexual performance of a child, and one count of use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.
