With district tournaments starting soon, the sports action around the county was heating up.
In flag football, the Crestview Bulldogs dropped a district match-up to Navarre at home by a final of 26-6.

FHSAA releases final regional rankings before district tournament
In the final regional rankings that were released by the FHSAA ahead of next week’s district tournaments, North Okaloosa County schools made their move.
Baker baseball stayed within striking distance of the regional tournament as the Gators (11-6), were placed sixth in the region.
Hoboes baseball shows growth in doubleheader against Bethlehem
Just as they have all season long, the Laurel Hill baseball team fought hard as they earned a split in a doubleheader against Bethlehem on April 7.
The games were played in cold, overcast conditions and were delayed an hour due to heavy rain in the area.
Area schools compete in track & field at Smokey’s BBQ Invite
The Crestview Bulldogs track and field team had a strong day at the Smokey’s BBQ Invite on April 5.
In the boys 100, Max Anderson, Zaire Hobdy and Jaden Cruthird all placed among the top 35 competitors with marks of 11.34, 11.64 and 11.67, respectively.
Gators win regional title in boys traditional weightlifting
For the first time since the 2021 season, the Baker boys weightlifting team is the region champion, as the Gators claimed the title in traditional lifting on April 5 in Baker.
Baker amassed 38 points in traditional, with three Gators in Connor Harmon (129), Layne Brewer (183) and Jonathan Lindros (219) being crowned as individual regional champions.
Hoboes softball earns much needed win over Poplar Springs
Facing a four-game losing streak, the Laurel Hill softball team was in a must-win situation against visiting Poplar Springs last Wednesday.
The Hoboes delivered.
Beckworth finishing senior year strong with Gators weightlifting
It has been a noteworthy athletic career for Baker’s Jacob Beckworth.
Beckworth played on the highly competitive Gator football team that made its return to the regional final in 2024.
