Gators’ girls shine in Baker track meet
All three North Okaloosa County schools were well represented at the Baker track meet on March 27.
Starting off in the girls sprinting events, Amelia Knight of Baker once again showed her speed with wins in the 100 and 200 as she had times of 13.06 and 26. 69.

Blackshear thriving with Gators boys weightlifting program
Weightlifting is Joseph Blackshear’s favorite sport. And the Baker senior is pretty good at it as well after sweeping the Olympic and traditional titles in the 199-lbs. weight class at the District 1-1A meet last Wednesday at Baker.
“It means a lot to me to be able to win this in my final year,” Blackshear said. “I started lifting when I was a freshman, and my coach told me that the sky was the limit for me. I tried as hard as I could to get to this point by practicing whenever I got the opportunity to do so.”
Area schools see shift in latest FHSAA rankings
With only a few weeks left in the regular season, it is crunch time for area schools as they look to move up in the region rankings.
In the rural classification, Baker sits in the sixth spot in the region as they trail district foes, Central, Jay and Northview.
Bulldogs tennis team continues strong play with win over Pace
The Crestview tennis team had their most dominant win of the season against Pace on March 25, as the Bulldogs defeated the Patriots by a score of 6-1 on both the boys and girls side.
On the boys side, the dominance started from the very beginning of the match, as the Bulldogs swept both doubles matches as the pairings of Tristan Cooley and Caleb Wayer along with Roman Prien and Lliam Cooley each won by a final of 4-0, 4-0.
Baker wins seventh straight district title in boys weightlifting
For the seventh consecutive year, the Baker boys weightlifting team is the district champion as they captured the title on March 26 at home.
Baker won the Olympic scoring with 72 points while they tied Walton in first place with 66 points in the traditional category.
Crestview boys weightlifting competes at district meet
The Crestview High School boys weightlifting team finished in third place for Olympic lifting with 24 points and fifth in traditional lifting as they scored 20 points at the 3A region 1, district 1 meet that was held at Pace on March 24.
Eli Anglin was a standout in the 169 lb. class, as he swept both categories with a 515 total in Olympic and 595 in traditional.
Crestview baseball drops double-header to West Florida
In two tightly contested match-ups on March 21, the Crestview High School baseball program dropped both ends of a double-header against visiting West Florida High School by scores of 11-6 and 7-3.
The Bulldogs now sit at 3-11 on the year.
Bulldogs ranked sixth in latest beach volleyball rankings
In the latest beach volleyball rankings that were released by the FHSAA on March 17, Crestview High School was ranked sixth in region 1 in class 2A.
Crestview holds a record of 6-1 through the early portion of the season, with their sole loss coming to Gulf Breeze, who was the top ranked team in the region.
