Gator football team opens spring practice
For the first time in 2025, the Baker football team was back on the field.
Head Coach Matt Brunson and the rest of his staff oversaw practice, which began on April 28, that included nearly 80 players which ranged from incoming freshmen to rising seniors.
Baker softball sets foundation for future in district tourney
The Baker softball team fought hard, but saw its season end with a 16-1 loss against top-seeded Jay last Tuesday in the semifinals of the Rural District 1 tournament.

Kaleigh Moss signs to play at Faulkner for volleyball
Baker’s Kaleigh Moss made it official last week that she will continue her volleyball career at Faulkner.
Moss played for the Gators for all four years of her high school year, helping Baker win the district title four years in a row, advance to three state semifinals, and win a state title in 2023.
Bulldogs beach volleyball falls in regional quarterfinal
The most successful season in Crestview Beach Volleyball program history ended on April 29, as the Bulldogs lost in the regional quarterfinal against Gulf Breeze, 5-0.
Crestview finishes their season with 14 wins, which makes them only one of eight teams in class 2A to achieve that feat.
Cooley’s state championship run ends in quarterfinals
Crestview High School tennis player, Tristan Cooley, continued to make program history at the 3A state championships in Orlando on April 28.
After claiming the district title in early April to earn an automatic qualification to the state tournament, Cooley won his first match against Zachary Kossen of Lakeland, 6-3, 6-4, before he dropped the quarterfinal match to Jayden Dyer of Jensen Beach, 3-6, 2-6.
Hoboes softball season ends in district quarterfinal
The Laurel Hill softball program saw their season end on April 28 in the quarterfinals of the district tournament.
Laurel Hill fell to Paxton by the final of 16-1, as they finished their season at 5-10.
Crestview beach volleyball advances to the regional tournament
For the first time in program history, the Crestview Beach Volleyball team qualified for the regional tournament.
The seventh-seeded Bulldogs will face second-seeded Gulf Breeze on April 29 at 4 p.m. in the quarterfinals against Gulf Breeze.

With the right coach, they can turn around a program and make it a consistent winner, leaving it in a better place than they found it.
Area softball teams start district tournaments next week
All three area softball programs will start their postseason next week.
Laurel Hill, seeded sixth, will open up the rural district 1 tournament against Paxton on April 28 at 5 p.m.
