Kayleb Wagner settles in at Southern Illinois

Kayleb Wagner was back in Baker for the holiday break last month after completing his first season of college football at Southern Illinois University. Wagner redshirted and played in one game. He did score a touchdown in the game and will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Fourth quarter collapse dooms Bulldogs

Just when it looked as if the Crestview boys basketball team had a fighting chance against Pope John Paul II on Wednesday things fell apart. The Bulldogs had closed a Knight lead that had once been 15 points to a point at 41-40 after Makhi Jones hit a pair of free throws with 7:20 left in the fourth quarter. John Paul, out of Hendersonville, Tenn., exploded for a 30-11 run after the free throws by Jones.

FHSAA announces new classifications and districts for football

The new classifications are out for high school football in Florida. And there are some changes.
Navarre, Pace, Tate and Crestview will be together in District 1-6A starting in 2024. Milton is headed to 5A and Baker will remain rural.

Baker’s Armstrong signs with Mercer

It has been two months since Baker offensive lineman Kurt Armstrong announced his commitment to play football at Mercer University in Macon, Ga. The 6-foot-4, 320-pound Armstrong made the commitment official on Wednesday as he signed with the Bears surrounded by family and friends in a celebration ceremony at the Crooked Tale Gastropub in Crestview.

Baker’s Haley Westberry signs with Coastal Alabama

Baker School’s Haley Westberry still has her senior season in basketball season to finish. But she has already taken a big step in her educational and athletic future.
Westberry, an outside hitter for the Lady Gator Class 1A state champion volleyball team, has signed a scholarship to play at Coastal Alabama Community College in Brewton, Ala.
