Baker softball makes a run in district tournament
Last Monday the Rural District 1 softball tournament began. Six teams competed for their chance at being crowned district champions.
Baker started off strong with a 10-1 win over Central in the opening round but couldn’t get past No. 1 Northview in the semifinals. The Gators’ season came to a close after losing 14-1.
Hoboes head home after district softball
The Laurel Hill softball team hit the road last Monday as they took on the Paxton Bobcats in the Rural District 1 softball tournament in Jay.
Having never faced Paxton before this season, the Hoboes were taking on a new challenge to try and reach the semifinals. The challenge proved more than Laurel Hill could handle as they were defeated 17-0.
Regional Qualifiers for 1A and 6A
Okaloosa County will be represented this weekend at the regional track meets in Pine Forest.
Gritty season for Crestview baseball
The Crestview baseball season came to an end on April 14 after a 12-1 loss to Tate in the opening round of the District 1-6A baseball tournament.
Although the season didn’t end with a trip to the playoffs, the Bulldogs were a top contender towards the start of the season.

An appearance in the Rural District 1 semifinals was as far as the Gators made it, but it doesn’t encapsulate the journey that was the 2025-26 season.
Gators stay strong at Region 1-1A weightlifting
On Friday, April 24, the Baker boys’ weightlifting team traveled to Walton to compete in the Region 1-1A weightlifting meet.
The Gators were among the top again with strong competition from Jay and Pensacola Catholic. Baker was named runner-up in the Traditional category and placed third in Olympic.
Crestview Bulldogs compete at regional weightlifting meet
Cayden Cook was among the medal winners for Crestview’s weightlifting team at the Region 1-3A meet Saturday at Pace.

Crestview’s Tim Gillis steps away from baseball
Tim Gillis has been a household name in the city of Crestview. Once a baseball player of his own, and Crestview alum, Gillis took the role of head coach for the Bulldogs’ baseball team in 2002.
After 27 years with the program, three as assistant coach and 24 years as head coach, Gillis announced that he will be stepping down from the position.
