Okaloosa County 2022 community survey opens to all residents
Okaloosa County has opened the comprehensive quality of life survey, previously offered to randomly selected residents living in unincorporated areas of the county, to all residents living in Okaloosa County. The open participation survey can be found at https://polco.us/okaloosa22op and runs November 1 – 15, 2022.

On duty code enforcement officer arrested
Walton County – An on-duty Walton County Code Compliance Officer is arrested for violating an injunction for protection against stalking.
On Saturday, Nov. 5, Walton County Sheriff’s Office arrested code compliance officer, Thomas Brennan after he was found to be actively violating an injunction in place since March of this year.

With legislative session two months out, medical examiner’s services hope to solidify facility plan
The question of where a new medical examiner’s facility will go is still in limbo, as is the question of what it will look like.
On Oct. 26, District One Medical Examiner’s Services (DOMES) held their monthly meeting to discuss different options for a new facility as well as their strategy of when they should have a plan in place.

FWC shoal bass conservation efforts proving to be a success
Shoal Bass recovery efforts continue trending in the right direction.
In May of this year, biologists from the FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute and the Division of Freshwater Fisheries Management released 3,300 1 to 2-inch genetically pure, hatchery-spawned fingerlings into the Chipola River. Those Shoal Bass were spawned at the Blackwater Fisheries Research and Development Center in Holt after two failed attempts.

City turns down annexation request
An ordinance that the City Council declined to move to action last month was back on the agenda for the meeting on Oct. 24.
A developer, The Grand Reserve Columbus LLC, out of Phenix City, Ala., appeared before the council seeking annexation and a change to the land development code for 13 acres located at 2909 Airport Rd.
