Florida Peanut Producers Association seeks nominees
Marianna – The Florida Peanut Producers Association is looking for eligible peanut producers interested in serving on the National Peanut Board.
The Florida Peanut Producers will hold a nominations election to select two nominees each for member and alternate to the National Peanut Board during a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Jackson County Ag Complex and Conference Center in Marianna. All eligible peanut producers are encouraged to participate.

Triumph Gulf Coast awards $21 million grant to NWFSC
The Triumph Gulf Coast board has awarded Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) $21,787,560 for its Nursing Program Expansion project.
Triumph Gulf Coast is a competitive development fund in Northwest Florida that supports infrastructure needs and develops industry-driven workforce and education training programs.

City of Crestview to host overdose summit
Mayor JB Whitten is partnering with Project Opioid and the Northwest Florida League of Cities for a day-long Overdose Summit from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Crestview Community Center.
The summit is free to residents of the Panhandle, but registration is required to attend the event.

Domestic violence suspect apprehended after 2-day search
A Crestview area man who was the subject of an intense search Sunday was tracked Monday to a home on Clover Street in the Auburn community and taken into custody on multiple felony charges and prior active warrants.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies began looking for 29-year old Joshua Colley Sunday morning in connection to a reported aggravated domestic battery involving a firearm in Laurel Hill.

Suspect accused of killing deputy indicted for murder
The suspect in the fatal shooting on Christmas Eve that took the life of Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Ray Hamilton has been indicted on multiple murder and attempted murder charges.
An Okaloosa County grand jury indicted Timothy Price-Williams, 43, on one count of first-degree murder in the Christmas Eve shooting death of Corporal Hamilton. Price-Williams was also indicted for attempted murder, for allegedly shooting a firearm at deputies Paxton Shelton, Ward Parsons and Brandon Simpkins, three other law enforcement officers who were standing with Corporal Hamilton when he was fatally wounded.

Crestview man allegedly shoots himself during burglary
A Crestview man out of jail on bond on burglary charges accidentally shot himself in the leg with a firearm stolen from one vehicle while in the act of breaking into a car at another home on Jan. 4.
Justin McCall, 28, Crestview, was arrested by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 5 on charges of grand theft, burglary to a structure, car burglary, and felony violation of probation.

Main Street renovation work could begin in March
The City of Crestview is hoping the second time will be the charm when it comes to finding a contractor to complete the planned multi-phase renovations to Main Street.
After receiving no bids from contractors to complete the Main Street improvements last year, the city reopened the bidding process last month. The bidding process closes later this month, with bids scheduled to be open on Jan. 19.
