Sometimes the breaks don’t go your way in sports. That was the case for the Crestview softball team on Thursday night as the Lady Bulldogs hosted rival Niceville. Despite not having anybody strike out, Crestview fell to the Eagles 13-4.

It was a tough afternoon for the Crestview High School tennis teams on Wednesday, April 5. The Bulldogs traveled south to Destin and took on the Sharks. In the end, it was the Sharks taking down the Bulldogs 4-3 in the boys and 5-2 in the girls.

A two-hitter by Hannah Twitty of the Lady Hoboes softball team wasn’t enough to propel Laurel Hill to victory on Tuesday. The one hit, a three-run triple by Vernon in the top of the seventh inning proved to be the difference as the Lady Yellow Jackets took down Laurel Hill 5-3.

Brayden Ruschmeier won’t soon be forgotten by Crestview baseball coach Tim Gillis. Ruschmeier, a senior, is in the final weeks of his Bulldog baseball career and has left a lasting impression the longtime coach.

“He’s exactly what I look for in a player,” Gillis said. “He’s tough. He goes to the post even if he’s down a little bit or not feeling his best.

Ask any baseball fan about the hot corner and they will quickly tell you about the action involving a third baseman.

With hard line drives coming at him or a bunt being dropped down just in front of home plate, a third baseman must always be ready for anything.

A chilly spring evening at the Crestview High School baseball complex didn’t stop the Bulldogs and Milton from locking horns in a very good high school game.

Runs were at a minimal and pitching was at a premium. In the end, Crestview had a little more of each than the Panthers. When the final out was recorded it was the Bulldogs taking the 4-2 win.

It won’t be long before Robby Kopp trades the warm days of Crestview for a different climate in St. Louis, Missouri.

Kopp, the senior left fielder for the Crestview baseball team, will be attending the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in the Show Me State. His plan is to study sports physical therapy while on a baseball scholarship.

There was no magic formula as the Baker Lady Gator softball team hosted Walton on Monday. Baker made the Braves play catch up the entire game. When the final out was made in the top of the seventh inning, Baker had a 6-4 win.

Friday night was a tough evening for the Crestview High School baseball team as the Bulldogs played host to Pensacola Catholic. The game was tied 3-3 at the end of the third inning, but the Crusaders broke it open late scoring eight runs in the final two innings. In the end, it was Catholic topping the Bulldogs 13-3.
