Before I covered high school sports as a career, I played them.

I participated in football, track, basketball, weightlifting and soccer.

There were fireworks at the end of 2024 for the Crestview boys’ basketball team.

Crestview ended the year with two strong victories in a tournament game against Rutherford and a road contest against Walton.

With the arrival of the new year also came the first boys and girls state basketball rankings by the Florida High School Athletic Association.

The first set of rankings was released on Jan. 2.

The Baker boys’ basketball program is off to a great start this season, sitting at 10-2 overall and 3-0 in district play.

One of the main reasons for the Gators success is junior guard, Cole Hardin.

It’s been a long journey for former South Alabama football star, Jaden Voisin.

Now, the former Crestview Bulldog is one step closer to his dream.

The Florida High School Athletic Association released their first rankings of the 2024 soccer season in late December.

For both the boys’ and girls’ programs at Crestview High School, it showed that the teams have ground to make up if they want to make noise in the state playoffs.

Brunson returns to Baker among headlines in 2024

Matt Brunson’s return to the sidelines highlighted 2024 in the News Bulletin coverage area. But that wasn’t the only highlight. Several programs named new coaches and championships were won as well while Baker’s volleyball team continued to keep the standard high.

Crestview girls’ basketball ended the 2024 calendar with a thrilling overtime victory.

The Bulldogs, 7-5 overall, defeated Freeport 67-65 at home on Friday, Dec. 20, in a back-and-forth contest.

It is a good time to be a Bulldog.

The Crestview boys’ basketball team sits at 8-2 heading into 2025, and even more importantly, are 3-0 in district competition.
