As the third seed in the district tournament, there was a lot of pressure for the Crestview High School girls basketball team to perform well in the opening round against sixth seeded Tate High School.

Whatever pressure the Bulldogs were feeling, they certainly did not show as they routed the Aggies by a final of 46-25 on Feb. 4.

Sports teams are like a family.

For Emily Whiddon of the Baker softball team, that statement rings true.

It is hard to beat a team twice at any level of basketball.

But the Laurel Hill girls basketball team proved that it can be done.

It was a tough end to the season for the Baker girls basketball team as they fell in the district tournament opener against Laurel Hill, 62-38, on Feb. 4.

Baker ends their season at 6-10 overall.

Heading into the postseason, the Laurel Hill boys basketball team was looking to make some magic.

Through one game, they have done just that.

Once the postseason begins, there is no easy game.

The Crestview boys basketball team learned that in their match-up against Pace on Feb. 3.

After claiming the district title, the Baker girls weightlifting team competed at the 1A, region 1 meet on Feb. 1.

Baker finished fifth as a team in Olympic scoring and ninth in traditional scoring.

In every major sport in North America, teams with the best record get to host playoff games.

For teams in the NFL, they even earn a first-round bye at the start of the postseason.

It was another exciting week of basketball at Baker school.

Both the girls and boys teams played at district foe, Central, on Jan. 27 with the boys team winning, 60-40, while the girls team fell, 56-41.

Eight years in a row.

The Baker Gators are once again the district championship in girls weightlifting as they won both the olympic and traditional meet at home on Jan. 29.
