Brunson returns to Baker among headlines in 2024

Matt Brunson’s return to the sidelines highlighted 2024 in the News Bulletin coverage area. But that wasn’t the only highlight. Several programs named new coaches and championships were won as well while Baker’s volleyball team continued to keep the standard high.

Crestview girls’ basketball ended the 2024 calendar with a thrilling overtime victory.

The Bulldogs, 7-5 overall, defeated Freeport 67-65 at home on Friday, Dec. 20, in a back-and-forth contest.

It is a good time to be a Bulldog.

The Crestview boys’ basketball team sits at 8-2 heading into 2025, and even more importantly, are 3-0 in district competition.

It was a tough week for the Baker girls’ basketball squad.

The Gators finished the week at 1-3 and head into the new year with an overall record of 4-6.

It was quite the season for Crestview High School quarterback, Jayzion Mcqueen.

The campaign was capped off with the junior being named team MVP at the program’s end of the year banquet.

Even through the struggles of a 1-9 start, Crestview boys’ soccer head coach, Angel Guzman is remaining steadfast in the belief of his program.

It has been tough sledding for the Bulldogs through the first half of the season, which includes losing their last two contests against South Walton and Navarre by a combined score of 15-1.

The end of the first half of the season was not kind to the Laurel Hill boys’ basketball team.

Laurel Hill fell 100-65 on Dec. 17 against visiting Freeport, dropping their record to 2-9 as they head into the new year.

Crestview football had one more large celebration for the 2024 season as the team gathered on Monday night at Lifepoint Church in Crestview for their annual end of season banquet.

Head Coach, Thomas Grant, opened the banquet with remarks thanking various sponsors, team administrators, parents and coaches for the work they put in during the season.

Kyle Graham is a Laurel Hill basketball lifer.

All he knows is playing for the Hoboes.
