A new football season is fast approaching for Baker. Coming off a 7-4 season, the Gators are trying to get back into the playoff mix.

The Baker boys weightlifting team met for the final time this season on May 5. It was a very celebratory meeting.

Track athletes from around the area had strong showings in both the 1A and 3A regional meets on May 2 and May 3 at Pine Forest High School. William Sloan from Baker won the region in the boys javelin with a throw of 183 feet, while Kaitlyn Stephens also from Baker, won the triple jump with a mark of 35.6 feet.

For the first time in 2025, the Baker football team was back on the field. Head Coach Matt Brunson and the rest of his staff oversaw practice, which began on April 28, that included nearly 80 players which ranged from incoming freshmen to rising seniors.

The Baker softball team fought hard, but saw its season end with a 16-1 loss against top-seeded Jay last Tuesday in the semifinals of the Rural District 1 tournament. Baker opened the game with a run in the first as Emily Whiddon, the Gators’ lead-off batter, came around to score after reaching on a walk.

Baker’s Kaleigh Moss made it official last week that she will continue her volleyball career at Faulkner. Moss played for the Gators for all four years of her high school year, helping Baker win the district title four years in a row, advance to three state semifinals, and win a state title in 2023.

The most successful season in Crestview Beach Volleyball program history ended on April 29, as the Bulldogs lost in the regional quarterfinal against Gulf Breeze, 5-0. Crestview finishes their season with 14 wins, which makes them only one of eight teams in class 2A to achieve that feat.

Crestview High School tennis player, Tristan Cooley, continued to make program history at the 3A state championships in Orlando on April 28. After claiming the district title in early April to earn an automatic qualification to the state tournament, Cooley won his first match against Zachary Kossen of Lakeland, 6-3, 6-4, before he dropped the quarterfinal match to Jayden Dyer of Jensen Beach, 3-6, 2-6.
