Round one of the Rural District 1 tournament tipped off last Tuesday in Laurel Hill as the Hoboes faced off against the Jay Royals.
The Hoboes couldn’t get it going as their season came to an end, losing to Jay 61-52.
It is only William Barton’s second year as the Laurel Hill head baseball coach. A major benefit for the coach was the ability to retain the majority of his 2024-25 players.
With three seniors graduating last year, Coach Barton will have 11 returning to play Hoboe baseball for the 2026-27 season.
It was the first round of the District 1-6A girls basketball tournament last Monday, and the Crestview Lady Bulldogs hosted the Pace Patriots.
In a win-or-go-home game, Crestview advances with a final score of 58-50.
The Crestview Bulldogs have been in preparation for the 2026 baseball season. After a final record of 11-16 in 2025 and finishing as the runner-up in the district tournament, the Bulldogs are ready to be unleashed.
It was senior night for the Laurel Hill Hoboes Tuesday as they hosted the Walton Braves in boys’ basketball.
A night to celebrate seniors Caleb Harrell, Jihaad Wood, Kyle Graham, and Chance Hass had the gym shaking with excitement as the Hoboes came out of the gate eager for a win.
The Baker Gators and Crestview Bulldogs have been finding their rhythm towards the end of the season.
Both teams were on a four-game win streak, but one team’s streak came to an end on Monday.
Regional girls weightlifting meets are set to take place this week and there is no shortage of area lifters who will compete for the right to go state.
Pace hosts the Region 1-3A meet on Thursday, with the host Patriots, Navarre, Milton and Crestview all competing there. Jay, Central and Baker head to North Bay Haven on Friday for the Region 1-1A meet.
Last Thursday night was a showdown between two Rural District 1 teams as the Baker Gators hosted the Jay Royals.
The Gators are among the top teams in the district and region and stayed that way with a 54-46 win over Jay. They improved to 15-6 and are in first in the district.
Baker hosted the District 1-1A girls weightlifting meet Wednesday where they competed for their ninth straight district title.
For senior Hanna Rogers, this meet meant a little more.
