The top two teams in Rural District 1 volleyball entered the gymnasium last Tuesday night with No. 1 Jay visiting No. 2 Baker.

The energy was electric and the atmosphere roaring as if it was to decide who the 2026 state champions would be. After four sets, Jay would remain at the top as the Gators fell 3-1.

Crestview’s volleyball team hasn’t had the best start to the 2026 season.

Now halfway through the season, the Bulldogs hold a 5-9 overall record after sweeping Milton this past Tuesday and are 0-1 in the district after their match against Pace at the start of the season.

Week four of high school football featured losses by both Crestview and Baker this past Friday night. However, Crestview is starting to slowly get back to a healthy roster, and Baker isn’t shying away from tough competition.

This past Monday, the Baker boys golf team headed to Pace to compete in the Byron Nathan Classic at Stonebrook Golf Course.

The Gators competed alongside 20 different schools in the humid heat for 18 holes of golf.

Over the weekend of Sept. 12, the Crestview cross-country team traveled to compete at the Gulf Coast Stampede in Pensacola.

The team continues to improve its times as the boys placed fourth overall and the girls 13th out of 52 teams.

The Crestview swimming team finally hit its home pool Saturday, Sept. 12.

After three straight trips to Destin, the Bulldogs welcomed Fort Walton Beach for a dual in the pool.

Crestview’s volleyball team has been searching for answers on how to find success on the court. After a trip to Orlando, the Bulldogs hit the road again to face West Florida before returning home to host Destin.

Crestview lost both sets in a sweep by Destin this past Thursday.

The Florida heat subsided a little last Tuesday afternoon as Crestview and Baker’s golf teams competed at Blackwater Golf Course alongside the Jay Royals.

The boys had a close match, differing by two strokes between first, second and third place, while Crestview’s girls’ team continued to top the podium.
