Okaloosa County School District Superintendent Marcus Chambers has been elected to serve as president of the Florida High School Athletic Association Board of Directors.

The first set of FHSAA regional rankings are out for football and Milton, Pace and Baker are ranked among the best in their respective classifications.

Jay remains the No. 1 team in Rural Region 1 while Pace, winners of seven in a row, has moved into the top eight in the Region 1-6A volleyball rankings.

Baker’s football team remains one of the area’s only unbeaten teams after rolling past Rutherford 27-3 on Friday night.

Crestview’s boys cross-country team earned a runner-up finish at the Argo Invitational on Sept. 13.


Tucker Sheldon paved the way for the Bulldogs on the University of West Florida course on a sunny and warm Saturday morning in Pensacola, taking second overall with a time of 17:21.90.

Baker hosted Jay in the War on Highway 4 Friday night. In what would turn out to be a memorable installment in the longstanding rivalry, Baker came out on top 29-20.

At one point on Friday night the Crestview Bulldogs were looking at a 21-point deficit and the very real possibility of an 0-3 start to their season.
