White-Wilson Medical Center marked the month of October by celebrating the contributions made by its female staff and health care providers. At the monthly Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce First Friday Coffee, White-Wilson highlighted the level of compassion and care provided by women throughout the organization and used the platform to raise awareness about health matters impacting women. To mark the occasion, the organization made a contribution to One Hopeful Place, a local housing shelter, in the name of the “Women of White-Wilson Medical Center.” The donation will help provide a bed in the women’s portion of the shelter.

The golf club formerly known as Foxwood has been up and running as Blackwater Golf Club for several months now under the umbrella of the City of Crestview.

Friday, the club had its official opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony sponsored by the Crestview Chamber of Commerce as leaders and golf enthusiasts from across the community looked on.

A Crestview High School student is charged with two felonies after an investigation allegedly revealed he had armed himself with a razor blade in preparation for a planned off campus fight after school on Fri., Oct. 14.

According to Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, information was obtained that Tyler Mahler, 16, has a weapon in his possession and intended to hurt a 15 year old girl. The arrest report says Mahler was found with silver razor blade in a Ziploc bag in his right jeans pocket on school grounds.
