The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Crestview man on 30 counts of possession of child pornography and other charges following a detailed investigation.

The teenage son of Rebekah Jones, a data analyst and former Democratic Party candidate for U.S. House, has been charged with intimidation, a second-degree felony. Jackson Jones, 13, was arrested for allegedly threatening to conduct a mass shooting at Holley Navarre Middle School, where he was previously a student. The threats first came to the attention of Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office March 20, when an East Bay K8 student told school officials about a school shooting threat she saw on social media.

A commander with Hurlburt Field’s 1st Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron has been demoted after being arrested Feb. 18 in Shalimar. Collin Charlie Christopherson, 37, of Niceville, is charged with driving under the influence (DUI), hit and run and a moving traffic violation for reckless driving resulting in damage to property or a person. The Shalimar Police Department responded to the incident involving Christopherson and made the arrest.

A 16-year-old was arrested Feb. 7 after he allegedly stole items including a violin and a SUV along Live Oak Church Road.

Jerry Lee Bankhead, of Crestview, faces multiple charges in Okaloosa County for stealing items and fleeing officers in two separate incidents.

A Crestview woman with warrants in both Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties allegedly slammed the door on law enforcement officers and refused to come out for several hours as they attempted to detain her.

Heather Sutton, 33, of Crestview, was arrested Jan. 23 for outstanding warrants and resisting an officer.

A Crestview man was arrested following an investigation into an incident involving a dog being shot and killed. The incident, according to Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, took place on Oct. 31 in the 1100 block of Farmer St. Willie Ray Gibson, 76, allegedly shot a neighbor’s dog after it had escaped the neighbor’s home sometime between 8 a.m. and 1:24 p.m. According to the warrant report, the dog was shot as it was running across Farmer St., away from Gibson’s residence. The dog died as a result.

A Winter Garden (Fla.) man was arrested in earlier this month following a yearlong investigation into an illegal gambling house being operated in Crestview. According to Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Lin Zhuo, 56, kept and permitted a gaming room and slot machines at The Lucky Pearl Internet Café, located at 779 North Ferdon Blvd. for the purpose of gambling. The warrant report for Zhou states the offenses occurred from Jan. 18, 2021, to Nov. 12, 2021.

Walton County – An on-duty Walton County Code Compliance Officer is arrested for violating an injunction for protection against stalking.

On Saturday, Nov. 5, Walton County Sheriff’s Office arrested code compliance officer, Thomas Brennan after he was found to be actively violating an injunction in place since March of this year.

A Crestview High School student is charged with two felonies after an investigation allegedly revealed he had armed himself with a razor blade in preparation for a planned off campus fight after school on Fri., Oct. 14.

According to Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, information was obtained that Tyler Mahler, 16, has a weapon in his possession and intended to hurt a 15 year old girl. The arrest report says Mahler was found with silver razor blade in a Ziploc bag in his right jeans pocket on school grounds.

A Crestview man was arrested after he allegedly had a nine year old child drive him to his house on Sun., Oct. 9.

According to Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when a witness spotted a car entering Oak Hill Road from a neighborhood around 8 a.m. on Mon., Oct. 10. The arrest report said the witness suspected the driver of the vehicle may be intoxicated as the vehicle was “all over the roadway.”
