After a tenure that lasted 11 years and included four 20-win seasons plus a state championship in 2019, Greg Watson stepped down as the head coach of the Crestview boys basketball program on April 11. Watson will leave the Bulldogs to take a job at BSN Sports, selling sporting goods apparel to local high schools and colleges.

On a sun-filled night in Baker on April 11, the Gator baseball team used a strong pitching performance from a trio of hurlers to beat Santa Rosa Christian by a final of 1-0. For Baker head coach, Preston Nixon, the strong performance on the mound was hopefully a sign of things to come for the district tournament.

With district tournaments starting soon, the sports action around the county was heating up. In flag football, the Crestview Bulldogs dropped a district match-up to Navarre at home by a final of 26-6.

In the final regional rankings that were released by the FHSAA ahead of next week’s district tournaments, North Okaloosa County schools made their move. Baker baseball stayed within striking distance of the regional tournament as the Gators (11-6), were placed sixth in the region.

Just as they have all season long, the Laurel Hill baseball team fought hard as they earned a split in a doubleheader against Bethlehem on April 7. The games were played in cold, overcast conditions and were delayed an hour due to heavy rain in the area.
