Randy’s Report
There are very few blackhole times of year when covering high school sports when things disappear into a vacuum of sorts.
The months of June and July are the closest thing we have to a blackhole. The two months between the end of the school year and the start of fall practices are when things slow to a crawl. It’s a time to catch up on other sports news in the community.

I have been in this industry for more than 25 years at this point, getting my first paid job at the Ball State Daily News in the summer of 1998.
Since that time, I have written thousands of stories (my best estimate is around 5,000, but that could be a little high or a little low).

There’s a hall of fame for just about everything
I have been a fan of video games for practically my entire life. My parents purchased an Atari 2600 for my brother and me in the early ‘80s and I’ve been hooked on them ever since.
I even wrote a weekly column on gaming at my last job that was published across the country for a few years. While I don’t consider myself an expert on the subject, I’m definitely well versed in it.

City’s foreclosure vote a good step
Last week, we reported on the Crestview City Council voting to move forward with foreclosure proceedings on 15 properties that have accrued tens of thousands of dollars in fines if not more for not being in compliance with city codes and make no effort to get into compliance or communicate their intentions to do so with the city.

It’s hard to believe we are in the home stretch of the school year.
The boys district weightlifting tournaments were last week. District tournaments in the spring sports will continue through April and end with the baseball and softball district tournaments May 1-4.

Life returning to normal post-COVID
There’s no need to sugarcoat some things. The pandemic sucked.
Millions of people worldwide died from the virus. It brought undue racist attacks against Asians here in America. It helped to bring a lot of anger to the surfaces in the states and abroad.
