Trusted and reliable, local newspapers matter to their communities
A recent Gallup study showed that American’s confidence in the national mass media has reached a near record low. While that’s disturbing, it’s not unexpected. The digital age has brought a barrage of national news sources that are focused on sound bites, opinions, partisan views and a race to push out breaking news, even if it hasn’t been properly fact-checked or vetted. The problem has been exasperated by social media channels that allow disinformation to be distributed virtually unchecked.

Randy’s Report
The older I get the better I become at putting winning and losing a game or match into perspective.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m one of the most competitive people you will ever meet. I’ve been known to keep playing online games such as solitaire until I won or won several games in a row.

Leave Main Street alone
In response to the article regarding the revamping of the main street in Crestview, this is atrocious that the new city manager has not done his homework to see that the Main Street Crestview was designate as a Historic District and Historic Downtown years ago.

For God’s Sake: Think of others as better than ourselves
Well… it finally happened to me. It was always something that happened to other people – even good people. I would watch it happen and think “What’s next for them? What are they going to do?”

One in eight – early detection is key
October is historically breast cancer awareness month. It is a time when we can raise money for various missions, wear pink to support those fighting breast cancer and honor those who may have died from the dreadful disease. And this is also time to remind you how you can get the best outcome – early detection – which means finding the cancer before symptoms begin.

City of Laurel Hill: Pop. 584, for now
Originally known as Almirante in 1895, a small logging and farm community was renamed Laurel Hill. It is Okaloosa County’s oldest city and has a population of about 600 or so.
Nestled in a rural area in north Okaloosa, the southern charm is not lost on this small, incorporated city.

For God’s Sake: Worship God in spirit and in truth
Every week for the past 35 years of ministry, I have thought about what is essential in corporate worship.
I am a musician, and when I came to faith in Christ in a small, south Florida church, I naturally volunteered to be in the choir.

This week, and every week, newspapers are for you
Americans have more media options than ever. We are inundated with stories, memes, videos and promotions 24 hours a day.
Most of us are on social media, which is built to provide an endless feed of content to keep us glued to our screens. And unfortunately, misinformation is prevalent and much of that content isn’t fact-checked, verified or professionally produced.

For God’s Sake: Remember how you have been forgiven and then freely forgive others
Jonah lived in the country of Israel more than 700 years before the birth of Jesus Christ. Israel’s greatest enemy at that time was the country of Assyria.
