Matt Gaetz will not be the next U.S. Attorney General. The former Congressman, who recently resigned his post as District 1’s representative to prepare for eventual Senate confirmation hearings, has announced that he will withdraw his name from consideration for Attorney General.

State Rep. Dr. Joel Rudman announced his candidacy for U.S House District 1 Wednesday, Nov. 20. The incumbent State Representative, who recently won reelection, said he is Matt Gaetz’ “natural successor.” 

On Jan. 2, former District 5 Okaloosa County Commissioner Mel Ponder will begin serving as Northwest Florida State College’s new president.

The Okaloosa County School District on Tuesday held its oath of office ceremony and annual organizational meeting, marking an important milestone for district leadership.

City of Crestview officials continue to form a strategy to decrease the high number of problematic ducks, including potentially killing many of the invasive Muscovy ducks, that have long been synonymous with the city’s popular Twin Hills Park, 100 N. Hathaway St.
