The effects of opioid and drug abuse don’t just affect those who use them. They also affect family members and friends of those who use drugs.

In an effort to help those suffering from drug addiction, the city of Crestview hosted its second Opioid Immersion Seminar Sept. 26.

As September comes to an end, Okaloosa County is preparing for the spooky season.

For Okaloosa County, the Wentz Brothers Festival of Fears will make its debut in Holt with opening night Oct. 2.

The City of Crestview Skate Jam returned to Eglin Federal Credit Union Skate Park this past Saturday, Sept. 19, for the fourth year.

The event featured live music, food trucks and trick competitions for skaters of all ages. The competition was broken down into ages 0-6, 7-12, 13-17 and 18-plus.

On Sept. 11, 2001, former U.S. Marshal Dominic Guadagnoli was in a morning briefing a few blocks from the World Trade Center when the first plane hit.

At that moment, an ordinary September day would be etched forever into Guadagnoli’s memory — and America’s.

Over the summer, the Crestview club wrestling team joined Sons of Thunder and Daughters of Zion wrestling club in Panama City Beach.

The combination of these two clubs grants opportunities for youth athletes who are interested in the sport of wrestling.

Crestview Parks and Recreation has already had a busy summer with sports camps, and now it adds another for the fall.


Following the remodel of Durell Lee Park, the fields will be utilized for the first-ever Baseball Camp happening Oct. 12-15.

Over the summer, schools across Okaloosa County opened their doors to serve breakfast and lunch to children who were eligible for free or reduced-price meals.


During that time, over 71,000 free meals were served.

The Breeze Cinema 8 in Gulf Breeze, The Ridge Cinema 8 in Pace and Marquis Cinema 10 in Crestview have been under the ownership of the Offerdahl family since their inception.

Their company, which operates as Ashbrie Cinemas, recently made a rebranding effort with updated logos, site upgrades and a new marketing campaign.

The Okaloosa County Commission approved funding for improvements to B&T RC Raceway in March. Now, construction is underway at the track.

With the start of August, football season is inching closer in the city of Crestview.


Although the high school season hasn’t started yet, the Hub City Bulldogs and Crestview Area Youth Association Bulldogs padded up for the Gridiron Classic on Aug. 1.
