The Baker volleyball team saw their season end on Monday afternoon in the state semifinals, falling to Branford in a five-set thriller.

Baker ends the 2024 campaign at 11-13 after falling by a final of 18-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-20 and 8-15.

Crestview football finished the regular season strong, as they defeated Fort Walton Beach on the road, 26-21.

Head Coach Thomas Grant’s team ends the year 4-6 overall and 2-3 in road contests.  Fort Walton Beach dropped to 3-7.

Homecoming was just about perfect for the Baker football team, as they defeated Vernon by a final of 41-7 on Friday night before a raucous home crowd.

Baker finishes the regular season at 7-3 and will await the playoff bracket that will come out next week, to see who they will play when the postseason begins on November 15th.

The Gators are headed to the state semifinal.

With a victory over Chipley in the regional final on Tuesday night, the Baker volleyball team now heads to Winter Haven for a chance at a second consecutive state title.

This time of year, every senior high school football player wishes they had a little more time. More time for sports or more time with friends.

Entering November, both Baker and Crestview are needing to make major moves in the FHSAA state football rankings.

In 2024, the rural classification of 32 teams will be split into an “A” and “B” brackets with teams 1-16 into the first group and teams 17-32 into the second bracket.

It was another triumphant night for the Baker volleyball team at home.

The Gators (10-12) were once again at their best when they needed to, defeating rival Jay in a sweep, 25-15, 25-13 and 25-15.

It was an offensive shootout on Oct. 25 in Cantonment.
