Crestview and Baker are closing in on the start of their 2025 volleyball seasons.


The Bulldogs nearly had a winning season while the Gators won their 22nd consecutive district championship and went on to play in the state final four.

That is the day that I started here at the Crestview News Bulletin.

After two months of running in the hot morning sun, the Baker football team finished its summer workouts.

Along with lifting in the weight room, the team practiced three days a week in June and four days a week in July.

In June and July, the Crestview football team made real strides.

Now, they are ready for fall camp to arrive to show the progress that they have made.

The Baker boys basketball program continues to prepare for the upcoming season.

With only a few weeks left before the school year, head coach Chad Martin and his team was utilizing the last part of July to hold pickup games at the school gym.

The Baker volleyball team is used to success.

Along with capturing the state title in 2023 and earning a trip to the state semifinal in 2024, the program has won 22 district championships in a row.

For the first time in the fall, fans get to see the Baker football team in action.

Baker will host “meet the Gators” on Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. at Doug Griffith Memorial Stadium.

Rafael Cratch will serve as the interim coach of the Crestview girls basketball team for the 2025-26 after the departure of head coach Andrica-Durm Williams who chose to leave the program.

Cratch was an assistant coach for the Bulldogs last season when they went 14-10 and advanced to the district tournament semifinal.

I was sitting at home watching the Major League Baseball Draft earlier this month.

Along with the pageantry of ESPN interviewing the first pick, 17-year-old Eli Willits and fellow high schooler, Ethan Holliday, it struck me just how poised the young men were.

It is almost time for the Crestview High School football season.

Fans can catch their first look at the team at “Meet the Bulldogs”, which is set for Aug. 8.
