Alexis Brown, a member of the Crestview High School Wrestling Team, will be wrestling at the next level after graduation this spring. Brown made it official as she signed with Frostburg State, a NCAA Division II program in Maryland, on April 19 in front of friends, family and her coaches at Pounder’s Hawaiian Grill in Crestview.

A remarkable season for Crestview High School tennis player, Tristan Cooley, continued April 18 as he won the district championship in the boys singles tournament. With the win, Cooley, a junior, advances straight through to the state tournament.

The Crestview flag football program hung tough with Pace High School, who is the second ranked team in class 3A, but they ultimately fell by a final of 15-6 in the district semifinal match-up. Crestview’s season ends with a record of 6-11.

After a strong season that saw the Gators match their season win total from a year ago with 14, the Baker baseball team fell to Central by a score of 11-9, to end their year. Against the Jaguars on April 15, the Gators started well.

A magical run for the Crestview baseball program came to an end on April 16, as the Bulldogs fell in the district championship to Pace by a final of 10-0. While the loss put a damper on the end of the season, Bulldogs head coach Tim Gillis was proud of the way his team fought through adversity to get to that point.

The Baker school hosted the district 1-1A track meet on April 16. In the boys short distance sprinting events, Calvin Wilks and Tyler Gordon of Baker finished in the top six competitors in the 100 with times of 11.51 and 11.63.

Laurel Hill’s baseball season came to an end on April 14, as the Hoboes lost in the district tournament opener to Northview, 15-0. Despite the tough ending to the season, the Hoboes generated momentum for the next few seasons.

It is crunch time for the Baker softball team. The Gators headed into the final week of the regular season with a record of 9-6, after they dispatched Laurel Hill by a score of 16-0 on April 14.

The Baker baseball team used a 10-run sixth inning to beat Paxton 16-6, in the opening round of the rural district 1 tournament on Monday night. After trailing 6-2 in the second inning, the Gators rallied for four runs of their own in the third to tie the game at 6.
