Officials say they found nearly 30 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop
Christopher Kyle Wright, 38, of 649 Lincoln Ave., DeFuniak Springs, faces charges of trafficking in fentanyl after a traffic stop in Walton County.
On the evening of Nov. 14, a Walton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 90 in DeFuniak Springs for a registration not matching the vehicle’s description.

OCSO deputy is recognized for his life-saving efforts
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Trevor Valentine, who rescued a mother and child who were being brutally attacked by a pair of dogs in Crestview last December, was publicly recognized for his heroic life-saving efforts by Crestview City Councilman Doug Capps at the Nov. 13 council meeting.

Crestview man receives life sentence
Crestview resident Anthony Michael Gabriel, 32, was recently sentenced to mandatory life in prison, plus an additional 15 years in prison to be served consecutively to his life sentence, after an Okaloosa County jury found him guilty as charged of armed burglary of a dwelling with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Crestview’s red-light cameras might not be shut down anytime soon
Crestview officials plan to keep the city’s red-light cameras in place through early 2028, which would give the city Police Department time to hire more sworn officers and stand up a traffic-enforcement unit that might replace the cameras.

Crestview officials seek to provide a ‘baby box’ for unwanted newborn infants
The city of Crestview soon might become only the second city in Florida to offer a “Safe Haven Baby Box,” which would allow for the anonymous deposit of an unwanted newborn infant.
The box could be installed on an exterior wall at Crestview’s Fire Communications Center, which is manned 24/7 and located at Fire Station 1 at 321 W. Woodruff Ave.

Housing development items receive City Council approval

Crestview Police remove large amount of drugs and guns from the streets
The next court date for a Crestview man who was recently charged with numerous drug trafficking charges and other felony charges is set for Dec. 28.
Matthew William Bachmann, 30, of 4818 Chapperal St., was arrested by Crestview Police officers on Nov. 9 at a residence at 1295 Mapoles St., northwest of the State Road 85-U.S. Highway 90 intersection.
