The wait is almost over!

For more than 20 years, the Crestview Historic Preservation Board has been looking for a place in which to establish a museum devoted solely to the county seat. At long last, the historic Bush House will open Friday, Sept. 9, to share Crestview’s remarkable story.

The Big Red Machine is a fixture at Crestview football games, and Dunn, the longtime band director, has made sure to work closely throughout the years with the Bulldog football coaches to coordinate when the band plays during the game and how he and the band can help the team and fire up the spectators.

Okaloosa County 4-H had their third camp of the summer, and it was the adventure of a lifetime!

Youth ages 5-7 gathered to learn about culture, try new foods, play games from around the world and make new friends.

There’s a new place to cool off in downtown Crestview.

The splash park on North Wilson Street opened last Wednesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by city, county and community leaders from civic organizations and businesses.

Crestview is not without its cultural side. A host of city-supported events, festivals and parades abound.

Active parks and rec program? Check. City-owned golf course? Check. A city museum will open in the coming weeks. There is even a community band and community choir.

Nearly 70 episodes in, and Chance Leavins still treats every episode of his CivicView podcast like it’s the premiere.

“This is our doorway to building connections,” he explained, adding that every listener is someone not just interested, but invested, in the city of Crestview.

For more than 75 years, ham radio operators from around the world have set aside a day to test for emergency preparedness and to just connect with people from around the world.

Crestview’s North Okaloosa Amateur Radio Club (NORAC) took part in the exercise out of the Senior Center at Old Spanish Trail Park.

It didn’t take long for three dogs to find a new home on Saturday at the adoption event held by Min Pins and Mutts K-9 Rescue at Farm Supply in Crestview, but that’s not always the case.

Sometimes no dogs are adopted, but that doesn’t matter to Lisa Bruning, the founder and president of the organization, and her volunteers.
