The Laurel Hill volleyball team was so close and yet so far away in Tuesday’s match with Pensacola Christian Academy.
Although the Lady Warriors won the match 3-1, every set was a battle. Set scores were 30-28, 17-25. 26-24. 25-23.

Baker’s volleyball team did its part in The War on Highway 4.

The Lady Gators swept the Lady Royals 3-0 by scores of 25-13, 25-8, 25-14.

It’s hard to say if the Baker football team is better than its record indicates.
After Friday’s 14-3 loss to Jay, the Gators find themselves 0-4 on the season. As the saying goes, you’re as good or bad as your record indicates.

It was a tough home-opening match for Crestview’s girls golf team on Thursday.
The Lady Bulldogs hosted local power Niceville along with neighbors Fort Walton Beach and Choctawhatchee at Blackwater Golf Course.

Thursday was a tough night for the Crestview volleyball team.
The Lady Bulldogs traveled south on Highway 85 to take on rival Niceville. And while a tenacious Crestview team didn’t wilt under the pressure of a constant attack from the home team, but it was never able to get the upper hand.

Baker-Jay might just be the best small-school football rivalry in Northwest Florida. In recent years the Gators have held the upper hand.

Friday things could swing in favor of the Royals when the teams meet at Doug Griffith Memorial Stadium for the 7 p.m. game.

Things don’t get any easier for the Crestview football team on Friday night when the Bulldogs hit the road for the first time this season.
Crestview (1-2) travels to Pace to take on a 3-0 Patriot squad coming off a 24-21 win over West Florida Tech. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Friday’s game at Crestview’s Jack Foster Stadium between the Bulldogs and Choctaw could very well be the definition of ugly football.

The teams combined for 27 penalties, 22 of which came in the first half. They made enough mistakes for the entire season.

The Gators will pay officials more than $4,000 for 10 home dates. A set of home uniforms cost about $1,500. The price is the same for a set of road uniforms.

Things haven’t gone as the Baker football team hoped for in the early season.
The Gators were trounced by South Walton in their opener. Last week they lost a heartbreaker to Destin in the last minute a week ago.
