One has to wonder if football season ever really ends in Northwest Florida.

The calendar might say January, February, April or June and teams might not be on the field practicing. But in some corner of a school or home of a coach or player, football is taking place.

Just when it looked like the Lady Bulldogs were in trouble on Wednesday night, they weren’t.
Crestview hosted Milton in the District 1-6A tournament semifinal and seemed to have the game in hand early in the fourth quarter. With less than 90 seconds gone in the fourth quarter the Lady Panthers cut a 17-point Crestview lead to 10 points at 49-39.

The 2022-23 basketball season came to an end for the Baker Lady Gators on Tuesday as they fell in the District 1-1A quarter finals to Freeport 44-32.
Baker (9-6) led throughout the first half but faded down the stretch.

Central took no prisoners in Tuesday’s District 1-1A girls playoff game against Laurel Hill played at Paxton.
The Jaguars connected on 16 shots from 3-point range on their way to a 61-30 victory that ended the season of the Lady Hoboes.

Crestview’s Madi Muse claimed a championship in the Olympic category of the District 1-3A meet last Wednesday in Niceville.

Muse won the 119-pound weight division with a total lift of 325 pounds. In traditional, Muse placed second with a total lift of 320 pounds.

There were plenty of basketballs to go around for the Bulldogs on Monday, Jan. 30 as the Crestview High School boys basketball team hosted Walton.
Led by Makhi Jones’ 13 points, nine Bulldogs scored as Crestview took down the Braves 59-47.

Once again Baker’s Lady Gator weightlifting team flexed its muscles on Friday in the District 1-1A meet.
Baker won both the Olympic and Traditional events to improve to 7-0 on the season. The Lady Gators scored twice as many points as their closest competitor, which happened to be Freeport, in both events.

Sometimes the ball doesn’t bounce your way. Such was the case for the Crestview High School boys basketball team as the Bulldogs hosted Okaloosa County rival Choctawhatchee.
Layups and shots in the paint bounced harmlessly off the rim. Three-point attempts, that seemed destined to find the bottom of the net, rimmed out. And the Indians did their share to disrupt the Bulldogs.

The Tigers weren’t exactly setting the court on fire either. A layup by Jonah Carter gave PHS a 2-0 lead.

Crestview Lady Bulldog softball coach Michelle Howard wants to grow the program into a contender for district, region and state championships.

She knows the best way to do that is to not only get girls excited about the sport at a young age, but to make sure they have the proper fundamentals as well.
