Vaida Jasmine McDougald, a 13-year-old Okaloosa Online Student who lives in the Deerland area east of Crestview, was arrested at her home on Dec. 2 on a second-degree felony charge of making an electronic threat of a mass shooting/terrorist act.

Returning Hub City Mayor J.B. Whitten and newly elected City Councilors Brandon Frost and Shannon Hayes were each sworn into office on Nov. 18 by the Rev. Paul Mixon, who is a pastor at Central Baptist Church in Crestview and the District 1 Okaloosa County commissioner.

On May 3, then-Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Eddie Lee Duran Jr. fatally shot 23-year-old U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Roger Fortson at Fortson’s residence at the Chez Elan Apartments on Racetrack Road in Ocean City.
