First Presbyterian Church recovering from vehicle crash
Easter had even more meaning this year at First Presbyterian Church in Crestview.
For the first time in almost two months, the congregation was able to celebrate worship services in its sanctuary. Early on the morning of Feb. 18, a car crashed into the front of the church at the intersection of North Ferdon Boulevard and James Lee Boulevard, reaching the interior wall of the sanctuary.

Brookmeade Park expansion could be city’s first bed tax project
The City of Crestview is moving forward with its first major project expected to be funded with revenues generated by the expanded bed tax district approved by voters back in October 2021.

Crestview man arrested on child pornography, bestiality
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Crestview man on 30 counts of possession of child pornography and other charges following a detailed investigation.
Zachary Richard Heath Ward, 29, of Crestview, was arrested May 5 on 30 counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of transmission of child pornography, three counts of sexual activities involving animals, and the use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

Main Street renovations stall again as city receives no bids
The third time was not a charm for the City of Crestview’s attempts to complete a major renovation to the Main Street area.
The city has been seeking a contractor to complete the large-scale renovation to Main Street since late last year.

FPL prepares for 2023 hurricane season
More than 3,500 Florida Power & Light employees participated in the company’s annual storm drill designed to test their response to a simulated hurricane. The week-long drill is an important component of FPL’s extensive year-round training to ensure employees are ready to respond when customers need them most.
During the exercise, Hurricane Flynn – a mock Category 4 storm – made a simulated landfall in Southeast Florida. FPL employees tested and role-played how they would respond, including their restoration efforts, operations, logistics, communications and customer service.
