The closing of Okaloosa County’s sale of 48 acres of Shoal River Ranch industrial park land to a manufacturing company is targeted for mid-July, said Nathan Sparks, executive director of the One Okaloosa Economic Development Council. The company, the name of which has not yet been publicly revealed, aims to use the land for a 300,000-square-foot facility that would have 350 employees.

Workers are placing the finishing touches on various upgrades for Gene Clary Park. Laurel Hill officials used a $50,000 state grant to add a second basketball court and a second playground to the park, and to install fencing at the parking area.

The last five-and-a-half years though Mott has been at Laurel Hill School. Before coming to Laurel Hill she attended school across the country and around the world having gone to school in New Mexico and England.

Some students attend school in the same town throughout their education and share memories with friends they’ve known since kindergarten. Other students come to a community or school while in elementary, middle or the first years of high school. Things are different for many students growing up in military families.

Crestview High School valedictorian Tyniyah Haughton will soon leave the security of her hometown of Crestview and embark on the adventure that will be her life.

She is a product of the Okaloosa County School District and has attended Crestview schools throughout her life. She started at Antioch Elementary School in kindergarten, went to Riverside Elementary, Shoal River Middle and finally Crestview High School.
