Girl Scouts work on Good Neighbor badge
Scouts from the local Girl Scouts troop recently got an inside look at the inner workings of City Hall.
Eight scouts from Girl Scout troop 93004 visited Crestview City Hall last week to learn about the different departments at the city and how they work together to provide the different services to the residents.

Major State Road 85 project to wrap up next year
An ongoing $25 million project that’s expected to improve traffic flow and safety along a heavily traveled portion of State Road 85 could be completed by summer 2024, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
The FDOT-led project includes resurfacing an 11-mile section of SR 85 from just north of State Road 123 by Niceville to Hospital Drive north of Interstate 10 in Crestview.

Helen Back brings its signature pies back to Crestview
Featuring pizza pies with names such as All Olives Matter, Cheesesteak Rivalry, and Rueben Me The Wrong Way, Helen Back Pizza is settling into its new home in Crestview.
The restaurant opened on April 19 with dine-in, takeout and delivery service at 1296 N. Ferdon Blvd., in a renovated building that formerly housed David’s Catfish House. The new Helen Back seats a little more than 150 customers in its approximately 4,500-square-foot space, the restaurant’s operating manager, Chris Sehman, said on May 11.

Community Chorus concert is ‘something totally different’
During its forthcoming spring concerts, the Crestview Community Chorus is preparing to sweep its audiences around the world on the wings of song. The concerts, called “International Folk Songs,” are May 19, 20 and 21 In Warriors Hall.
“We’re starting in America and then we’re going to Europe, and then we’re getting back on the ship and returning to America,” said chorus member Sharon Adams.

Commons ‘making community better’
Building a large-scale shopping center is never easy. Doing so through the COVID pandemic proved almost impossible at times for the developers of the Crestview Commons project.
Shortages in electric supplies, HVAC products and other construction materials have impacted the development of the project for years, said Martin DelleBovi, executive vice president of the Benchmark Group, the developer of Crestview Commons.

Trio looks to open ‘Family Fun Center’
Three area residents are working to bring a new blend of entertainment to the Hub City with their proposed Swingz Family Fun Center.
The proposed center could include an 18-hole miniature golf course, batting cages, an arcade, a craft brewery and at least one food vendor, all located across Antioch Road from the city-owned Blackwater Golf Club.
