Lady Bulldogs hitting their stride

Crestview finished third behind district powers Niceville and Fort Walton Beach in the match played at Blackwater Golf Club in Crestview.

Gabby Green had the second-best score for Crestview with a 51. A pair of Lady Bulldogs shot 55 as Crestview turned in a team score of 205.

“I’m proud of the progress we have made this season as we appear to be peaking at the right time with the district tournament less than two weeks away,” coach Dan Byerly said. “My hope is the team stays poised to shoot their best scores yet.”

Crestview girls golf team finishes third

Crestview shot a team score of 216 to finish in third behind the Lady Eagles and the Lady Vikings.

Katlyn Maynard shot a team best 50 for Crestview. Emma Marx shot 54 and Paige Dietz and Gabby Green each shot 56.

A hot and humid day made things tough for all the golfers.

“It was a rough day for our first home match,” Crestview coach Dan Byerly said. “We’ve played so much better this year, but our nerves got the best of us.

“To be honest, the course was a beast for all four teams with the unforgiving heat making things difficult for all the golfers.”

Crestview’s best match of the season was on Sept. 7 at Emerald Bay when the Lady Bulldogs shot a 202.

Crestview returns to action on Tuesday against Baker at Blackwater.
