With summer coming to an end, Baker principal Mike Martello is quickly finding himself in his happy place welcoming students back to campus.

Walker Elementary School Principal Lorna Carnley is a product of the Okaloosa County School District.

She attended Florosa Elementary School in Southwest Okaloosa County and is a proud 1985 graduate of Fort Walton Beach High School. She was a longtime faculty member and administrator at Baker School.

On the weekend of Friday, June 10 through Sunday, June 12, middle school and high school age students will have the opportunity to take part in a three-day debate camp featuring local leaders at Northwest Florida State College.

The debate camp is organized by Incubate Debate. According to their website, Incubate Debate is a non-profit debate initiative for high school students from Florida’s rural and urban communities.

If his time at Baker is any indication on whether he’ll achieve that goal, he’s well on his way to earning his wings.
