They said Caleb Mack, 23, of Gulf Breeze, was jailed on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill after deputies responded to a road rage call in Destin on Tuesday.

“The victim, a visitor from Alabama, says it all started after Mack became enraged when she threw a cigarette butt out of her car window yesterday around noon,” S.O. officials said. “When she and her family pulled up to a red light at Highway 98 and Airport Road, she says Mack pulled up beside her yelling, then pulled out a firearm with an optic and mounted light and pointed it at her while her teenage children were in the back seat. She says she feared for their lives.”

A “be on the lookout” call went out to area deputies. Deputies spotted Mack behind the wheel and made a traffic stop. He admitted producing his firearm but says he never pointed it at anyone, S.O. officials said.

They said deputies seized a 9mm Glock with an optic and mounted light that Mack had in his waistband.
