Police arrest suspected bank robber

The suspect, 54-year-old Warren B. Toledano III, of Louisiana, had served time in prison for three prior bank robberies, police said in a news release.

Shortly after 3:40 p.m. on Dec. 27, the Crestview Police Department responded to the First National Bank and Trust, 885 S. Ferdon Blvd., in reference to an armed robbery.
“The suspect brandished what appeared to be a pistol and demanded money before departing the business on foot, potentially entering and fleeing in a smaller dark blue or black SUV,” police said.
They said that during the investigation, the Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division was able to develop a suspect, who drove to Crestview from Chalmette, Louisiana in a black Honda SUV to commit the bank robbery. The subject returned home to Louisiana following the robbery, police said.
“After arriving in the Crestview area, he removed the vehicle tag to commit the bank robbery, and after the robbery, reattached it during his return to Louisiana,” police said.
An arrest warrant was issued for Toledano, who was identified as the robbery suspect. The Crestview Police Department coordinated with the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana and the U.S. Marshalls Office, which led to his swift apprehension.
Toledano, who was released from federal prison last October after serving a 24-year sentence after having committed three prior bank robberies in Louisiana, was arrested for the warrant from Crestview.
He was taken into custody at his home in Louisiana without incident, police said. Toledano is currently awaiting extradition back to Florida to face the bank robbery charges out of Crestview.
