Okaloosa County seeks money for Florida Trail footbridge over the Yellow River
After hiking about nine miles, thru-hikers heading west on the Florida National Scenic Trail from State Road 85 just south of Crestview currently must turn around because of a trail gap and the lack of a footbridge over the Yellow River.
This map shows the location of the Florida National Scenic Trail via a solid orange line on both sides of the Yellow River. The dotted yellow line represents the 20-mile path that thru-hikers must take along the shoulders of State Road 85 and U.S. Highway 90 because of a trail gap and the lack of a footbridge over the river.
