Niceville businessman to serve on the School Board

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis today announced the appointment of Brett Hinely, of Niceville, to the Okaloosa County School Board.

The appointment is effective Aug. 2. Hinely will replace former District 5 School Board member Diane Kelley, who began serving as Destin High School’s principal on July 1.

According to a news release from the governor’s office, Hinely is the president of Cove Marine Inc. and Bluewater High & Dry and the director of Marina Cove Realty LLC and Freedom Distributions LLC.

A veteran of the Air Force, he is the former president of the Marine Industries Association of Northwest Florida and is a member of the Eglin Air Force Armament Museum Foundation Board of Directors. Hinely earned his bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Auburn University.
