Making her own name

When you have the same last name as one of the most heroic military figures in the history of the United States Army, the expectations can be high.

Baker junior softball player Blakely York is one such player. She’s a distant cousin of World War I Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Sergeant Alvin York.

Blakely York starts her swing during a recent Baker softball practice. A junior, York suffered a severe concussion as a freshman and is just now starting to get her swing back.
