After departing from Shoal River Wayside Park by Crestview’s south end, kayakers paddling upstream will pass banks of white sand, coast under cartoonish wasp nests dangling from branches, stir great blue herons and other birds to flight and see handsome cypress trees left alone by the mulcher.
