County wants closed beach by Marler Bridge reopened

Okaloosa County officials plan to ask Eglin Air Force Base leaders to reopen the East Pass beach, next to the Marler Bridge by Destin, and allow the county to manage it. On Tuesday, the County Commission agreed to have board Chairman Paul Mixon send a letter of intent about the county’s overall proposal to Eglin officials.
The federally owned East Pass beach next to the Marler Bridge by Destin has been closed to the public since April 2020.
