According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the parking lot was heavily congested at the time of the incident. The driver saw the child with his parent and another child cross ahead of him before the boy fell out of view because of parked vehicles in the lot.
The driver continued forward, but the boy had doubled back in front of the truck and was out of the driver’s sight.
The front right side of the truck struck the child. The boy was knocked to the ground, and his leg was run over.
The driver stopped as soon as he was alerted that a crash had occurred.
The child’s condition was not reported.
