The artwork, known as the “Train Conductor” heron, was painted by local artist Sharon LaPine as part of the Okaloosa Public Arts organization’s Emerald Coast Heron Project.

At 3 p.m. next Tuesday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held to celebrate the addition of the heron at Wilson Street Park, 375 N. Wilson St.

“This new addition reflects the community’s commitment to enhancing public spaces with art that celebrates our local culture and history,” city of Crestview officials said today in a news release. “The ‘Train Conductor’ heron ties perfectly into Wilson Street Park’s train-themed playground.”

The half-acre park and its playground officially opened last September.
