A New Path for Depression: Advanced Treatment Is Now Available Right Here in Crestview
Crestview and the surrounding Okaloosa County area is home to one of the most resilient communities in the country — and one that carries a significant mental health burden. For many residents, finding effective treatment for depression has meant trying medication after medication, working with therapists, and still not feeling like themselves. If that sounds familiar, there is now a proven, FDA-cleared option available right here in your community.

A Special Note for Our Military Community
Active-duty service members, veterans, and military families make up a significant portion of our community — and they face some of the highest rates of treatment-resistant depression and PTSD in the country. Renue Wellness was built with this community in mind. We accept TRICARE insurance, our team understands the unique challenges of military mental health, and we are committed to making advanced treatment options accessible to those who have served and those who support them.
What Is TMS?
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation — or TMS — is a non-invasive, non-drug treatment for major depressive disorder that has become one of the most studied advances in psychiatry over the last two decades. A small device is placed comfortably against the scalp, and precisely targeted magnetic pulses — similar in strength to those used in an MRI — stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation.
A standard session takes approximately 20 minutes. Most patients complete a full course over six to eight weeks, with no anesthesia, no medication changes required, and no recovery time. Patients drive themselves to and from appointments and return to normal activities immediately after each session. Newer protocols, including Theta Burst Stimulation, can deliver effective treatment in as little as three to five minutes per session.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
TMS may be a strong option if you have experienced any of the following:
- Antidepressants that haven’t fully resolved your symptoms
- Side effects such as weight gain, fatigue, or emotional blunting that make medication difficult to continue
- Depression that persists despite medication and therapy
- A preference for a non-pharmaceutical approach
- Postpartum depression or depression during pregnancy
It is worth noting that many Renue patients continue working with their therapist or prescriber alongside TMS treatment. Research suggests that outcomes are often stronger when treatments are used together — TMS is designed to complement your existing care, not replace it.

Does It Work?
Clinical studies have consistently shown that roughly 50 to 80 percent of patients with treatment-resistant depression experience a meaningful reduction in symptoms after TMS, and approximately 30 to 60 percent achieve full remission (becoming symptom-free). TMS has been FDA-cleared since 2008 and continues to be refined with newer, faster protocols.
Renue Wellness also offers Spravato, an FDA-approved nasal spray for treatment-resistant depression, administered in-office and covered by most major insurance plans including TRICARE.
What to Expect at Renue Wellness
Every patient begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. Our providers take the time to understand your full history before recommending a course of treatment — because the right plan is built around you. Most patients begin noticing a difference by the third or fourth week of treatment.
