“Join us for light refreshments, remarks from our city council, and the administration of the oath of office at City Hall Council Chambers, 198 N. Wilson St.,” city officials said in a news release. “Doors will open at 5 p.m. The program will begin at 5:30 p.m. We will also recognize outgoing councilmembers Andrew Rencich and Cynthia Brown.”
Whitten ran unopposed in the general election and is returning for a second four-year mayoral term. Frost also ran unopposed for the Group 2 at-large seat, which is currently filled by Rencich.
Hayes, who served on the council from 2013 to 2022, defeated Frederick Butts III in this year’s race for the Group 1 at-large seat currently held by Brown.
Like the mayor, each council member serves a four-year term.
In the August primary election, Rencich lost his bid for the Okaloosa County Commission District 3 seat. Brown did not seek re-election.
