In Loving Memory of Rebecca Ann McLeod
She is survived by her sisters Bobbie Denise McLeod and Sonya Kay Dozier, several nieces and nephews, and Ron Krecic, her companion of 40 years.
Rebecca was born July 5th, 1954 at MacDill AFB, in Tampa, Florida. She was affectionately known as Bec to her father, Becky to Ron, and Reba to her many friends.
After graduation from Niceville HS she started working for the Air Force. She was a Budget Analyst at Eglin AFB, Florida, and Peterson and Schriever AF Bases in Colorado, with 36 years of outstanding service and several commendations, before retiring because of health reasons. Her tenacious spirit kept her fighting a courageous battle, which was echoed in her love for the Crimson Tide.
Reba was active in the community serving as the treasurer of the Republican Club and as assistant for the North Okaloosa Fire District.
She was an avid reader, having a book wherever she went. She spent many hours delving into her family’s ancestry exploring her Scottish and Cherokee roots. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and visiting friends in the local area. Politics was also a passion and she would discuss it anytime. And Rebecca was the most patriotic person we knew. She was beautiful, loving, and kind to all and made friends easily.
Rebecca converted to Catholicism in Colorado. We would like to thank everyone in the Oncology Center at Ascension Sacred Heart Hosp in Destin and Pensacola for the excellent care and treatment over many years.
A memorial will take place at Brackney Funeral Home on Sat, Sep 14, with visitation at 1pm and a service at 2 pm. She will be cremated and buried in the family plot next to her mother and father in Florala, Al, at a date to be determined.
