Labauve worked as a contracted employee at the jail for approximately 30 days before the conclusion of an in-depth departmental investigation, which ultimately led to his arrest, county officials said today in a news release.
Chief Correctional Officer Nolan Weeks emphasized the gravity of the offense and the dedication of his team to ensuring the security of the facility.
“The smuggling of contraband into a correctional facility is a serious offense that directly threatens the safety and order of our operations,” Weeks said. “We are committed to a zero-tolerance approach when it comes to illegal activities within our walls. Our team will continue to swiftly and vigilantly root out any criminal behavior to ensure a secure environment for both our staff and inmates.”
County Commission Chairman Paul Mixon praised the department’s efforts, stating, “I commend the outstanding investigative work conducted by the corrections team. Their dedication to upholding the safety and security of our facility is evident in their swift action. We are grateful for their continued efforts in maintaining a controlled environment that prioritizes the well-being of everyone involved.”
Labauve was arrested by the county Sheriff’s Office and is currently being held at the county jail on a $2,000 bond.
