According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, a 19-year-old woman from Fort Worth was trying to turn her SUV left from eastbound U.S. Highway 98 into the Destin West Beach and Bay Resort at 1515 Miracle Strip Parkway. A sport bike being driven by the man from Fort Walton Beach was traveling west at a high rate of speed and struck the right side of the SUV.
The rider of the bike and the front seat passenger of the SUV died in the collision.
Two additional passengers in the SUV were hospitalized with serious injuries. No criminal charges are expected as a result of the crash, FHP officials said.
