The wreck occurred at 6:30 p.m. at County Road C 180 and Mormon Temple Road, west of the Escambia Farms area.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, the Baker man’s pickup truck was stopped on Mormon Temple Road at the stop sign at the intersection of County Road C 180. The other vehicle, which was an SUV driven by a 27-year-old woman from Wing, Alabama, was traveling west on County Road C 180, approaching the intersection of Mormon Temple Road.
The Baker man’s truck entered the intersection and became an immediate hazard to the SUV, which could not stop in time, according to the news release.
The front of the SUV struck the truck’s passenger side. The force of the collision pushed the truck to the west and it overturned onto its roof. The SUV rotated clockwise at the area of collision and came to a rest in the intersection facing north.
The Baker man and the Wing woman both suffered serious injuries and were air lifted to a nearby trauma center.
All the passengers in the SUV — a 29-year-old man, 5-year-old boy, 1-year-old boy, and a boy whose age was unknown – also suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital by ambulance.
The Baker man was cited for a stop sign violation. The Wing woman was cited because two of her child passengers were not in child restraints.
